Story by Lia Ganosellis of Content Cay

It’s no secret that it’s been a trying time for many in the Turks & Caicos since March, when our islands closed our borders and went into lockdown for four months. For some, those trying times began long before the Covid pandemic. But for every story of pain and hardship, there’s another one of love, kindness and compassion. And that’s what this story is about. Since April, the Turks & Caicos Salvation Army and its volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure the people of our islands have food on their tables. And Attimi Photography had the great honor of joining this team of volunteers to help not only prepare and distribute food to those in need, but also to document the process and spread awareness of the Salvation Army’s valuable work behind the scenes.

The moment October hits, we’re ready for spooky season to start. Telling scary stories, perusing the pumpkin patch for that perfect gourd, setting up a marathon featuring the best Halloween movies of all time, and looking up the most haunted places are some of our favorite fall activities.  The big day is finally here: October 31st, it's Halloween 👻 Halloween evolved from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. Over the centuries, Halloween transitioned from a pagan ritual to a day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.

With more than 230 miles of white-sand beaches and some of the world's most beautiful coral reefs, the Turks and Caicos islands are arguably the hidden gems of the Caribbean. They’re less than 90 minutes from Miami, and about a three-hour flight from New York City.

The main attraction, of course, is the beaches, or better the water that surrounds Grace Bay, Long Bay, Malcolm  Beach, Sapodilla Bay and all the other well-known and beloved beaches.

To celebrate Amy's 40th birthday her devoted husband Greg booked an amazing vacation at The Sands, Providenciales. Having researched the "Best of Turks and Caicos" he invited the entire group to a private boat charter with Caicos Dream Tour, an unrivalled way to experience our islands.

Families, friends, celebrities, journalists, bloggers  and world travellers: everyone loves a Turks and Caicos Excursion. On board of Talbot's Adventures Mrs Lara Bell, Published & Editor of Swoon Memorial Magazine, had a blast.

Lara and her closest friends chose The Venetian on Grace Bay to celebrate her big birthday, spicing it up with delicious dinners, daily gifts, fun beach time and an amazing day on the water. Captain Levardo enchanted us with a view from the ocean of the world famous Grace Bay; Clifton guided the ladies on a spectacular snorkelling adventure; the ocean and its mesmerising colours completed the magic.

Last Saturday, June 24th 2017, the Provo Performing Arts School presented their  Third Annual Summer Showcase, at Brayton Hall, Providenciales. What a show! All students are given the opportunity to show the local community, as well as their friends and family how much they’ve learnt. From toddlers to teenagers, the little performers wore their dancing shoes and colorful costumes, making the audience marvel, applaud, laugh, dance in the seat. Niki Flower, the amazing teacher, has the talent of professional dancer and the patience of a saint. A special thank you to: Turks & Caicos Friends of the Arts, to all the helper, to the great parents that believe in the magic of art.

This post is different from the others: it does not speak about a wedding nor a family, it does not feature my work, nor the Turks & Caicos Islands. It shares a message of compassion and love, but also violence and heartbreak. Beautiful Together, by the amazing portrait photographer Tamara Lackey and her husband Steve, work to improve the life of children. The project to fee and shelter Aleppo Orphans touched my heart and want to share it with you.

westjet-magazineTwo months ago I've been contacted by the Art Director of WestJet Magazine to be a contributor for the January 2017 issue of the magazine. "Turks & Caicos - Exploring behind Providenciales", an editorial feature about Grand Turk, North and Middle Caicos. The idea of being published on the Canadian Airlines magazine immediately excited me! The beautiful article written by Theresa Storm sealed the deal and in less then a week I was boarding the plane directed to the TCI capital.
